Faq About Olea Legacy
What is Olea Legacy?
Olea Legacy is an ultra-premium olive tree ownership and stewardship experience company based in London-UK with its Heritage Operations in Crete-Greece.
We enable individuals, families and businesses to acquire defined contractual Ownership – Stewardship Rights in relation to a designated olive tree or grove, together with a personal connection to its landscape, harvest and story.
Depending on the Programme, Stewards may receive personalised extra virgin olive oil associated with the harvest of their designated tree or grove, opportunities to visit and experience the grove, seasonal updates, and other ownership and stewardship benefits.
The underlying land and legal title to the tree remain with the relevant landowner unless a separate legal arrangement expressly provides otherwise.
Is Olea Legacy just another olive oil subscription?
Not at all.
Unlike a conventional olive oil subscription, Olea Legacy is built around a defined relationship with a specific olive tree or grove.
Where your Programme includes personalised olive oil, the harvest associated with your designated tree or grove is treated as a distinct source and processed separately in accordance with the applicable production arrangements.
In exceptional low-yield circumstances, supplementation may be necessary in accordance with the Programme Terms. Any supplementary oil is not represented as having originated from your designated tree or grove.
The result is an ongoing ownership and stewardship experience rather than simply a recurring olive oil delivery.
What do I receive when I purchase an olive tree?
You acquire defined Ownership – Stewardship Rights in relation to a specific designated olive tree or grove for the applicable Programme Term.
Depending on your Programme, your benefits may include:
An Olea Legacy Ownership Certificate recording your contractual Ownership – Stewardship Rights
A personalised plaque or marker, where included
Seasonal photographs and updates
The opportunity to visit your designated tree or grove
An invitation to participate in the harvest, subject to timing and site conditions
Personalised extra virgin olive oil associated with your designated harvest, where included in your Programme
Additional benefits specified in your Programme Enrolment Confirmation
The exact benefits, quantities and services applicable to your Programme are set out in your Programme Enrolment Confirmation and the Programme Terms.
What packages are available?
We offer four tiers:
The Legacy Tree (from €3,000)
The Heritage Grove (€6,000 to €15,000, 3 to 5 trees)
The Legacy Estate (private grove, €25,000 to €100,000 or more)
The Collector’s Club (non-ownership subscriptions and experiences)
Can I upgrade from one package to another later?
Yes. Clients often begin with a Legacy Tree and later expand to a Heritage Grove or Legacy Estate. The Ownership Fee you have already paid can be credited toward an upgrade.
Is there an annual fee?
Yes. After the initial Ownership Fee, applicable Programmes require an Annual Stewardship Fee for each renewal period.
The Annual Stewardship Fee supports the ongoing stewardship and coordination associated with the Programme, which may include agricultural care, harvesting coordination, processing, bottling, storage, updates and other services included in the relevant Programme.
The exact fee and inclusions are confirmed when you enrol and may vary according to the Programme.
Will my olive oil come exclusively from my designated tree or grove?
Yes. Your designated tree or grove is treated as a distinct source for your personalised olive oil.
Where the designated tree or grove produces sufficient olives to fulfil the quantity associated with your Programme, those olives are separately harvested and processed in accordance with the applicable production arrangements.
Because olive trees are living agricultural assets, annual yields naturally vary. In an exceptional low-yield year, Olea Legacy may supplement the resulting oil from a comparable certified Greek producer where reasonably necessary to fulfil the applicable Programme allocation.
Any supplementary oil is not represented as having originated from your designated tree or grove, and where supplementation materially affects the quantity or provenance of the oil supplied, we will inform you before bottling.
How much olive oil will I receive each year?
Olive oil yield varies naturally from year to year.
The quantity associated with your Programme depends on factors including the size and condition of the designated tree or grove, flowering and fruit set, weather, harvest timing and other agricultural conditions.
Where a Programme includes an indicative quantity, this should be understood as an estimate rather than a guaranteed agricultural yield unless expressly confirmed otherwise in your Programme Enrolment Confirmation.
In exceptional low-yield circumstances, the supplementation provisions in the Programme Terms may apply.
How is the olive oil packaged?
Your oil is hand-bottled in elegant dark glass containers with your custom label featuring your name, crest, or gift dedication.
Where are the olive trees located?
In historic groves, many with centuries old trees, across Crete, the Peloponnese, Halkidiki, Aegean & Ionian islands, and other historically significant olive-growing regions of Greece.
Do I legally own the land or the olive tree?
It depends on the Programme.
For the standard Ownership – Stewardship Programmes, you acquire contractual Ownership – Stewardship Rights in relation to a designated olive tree or defined grove. These rights include the benefits and privileges specified in your Programme, but they do not constitute legal title to the underlying land or olive tree as real property.
The underlying legal title remains with the relevant landowner unless a separate legal arrangement expressly provides otherwise.
Legacy Estate arrangements are different. Each Estate is structured separately and may involve specific property, usage, management, naming or other rights under Greek law. The exact legal structure and documentation will be provided before a Legacy Estate transaction is completed.
Your Olea Legacy Ownership Certificate records your contractual Programme rights; it is not a land title or property deed.
Will my olive tree be marked?
Yes. Where included in your Programme, your tree carries a plaque with your name or family crest, and its GPS location is shared with you.
Can I visit my olive tree in person?
Yes! All clients may schedule visits by appointment. Legacy and Heritage Grove owners receive guided tours, while Legacy Estate clients may enjoy VIP harvest experiences.
When is the best time to visit my olive tree?
The olive harvest season runs from October to December. Spring (April–June) is also ideal for cultural immersion and grove experiences.
Do you offer curated experiences in Greece?
Yes. Olea Legacy can help arrange private experiences connected with your tree or grove, including harvest days, grove visits, olive oil tastings, gastronomic experiences and cultural excursions.
Where a wider journey is required, we can also coordinate with selected travel and hospitality professionals to help arrange accommodation, transportation and other travel services.
Experiences and travel services may be arranged separately from the Ownership – Stewardship Programme and are subject to availability, seasonal conditions and the terms of the relevant service providers.
Can I bring guests?
Absolutely. We welcome spouses, families, and guests on all the experience tiers.
Where do you ship?
We ship worldwide from Greece. Deliveries are insured and packed to protect the oil in transit. For deliveries outside Greece, any import duties and taxes are payable by the recipient, as set out in our Terms.
When will I receive my olive oil?
Bottling takes place shortly after harvest (typically by January/February), with delivery in early spring each year.
Is the packaging gift-ready?
Yes. All bottles arrive in elegant presentation boxes, ready for gifting or display.
Can I gift an olive tree to someone else?
Absolutely. An Olea Legacy Programme can be given as a gift for weddings, anniversaries, births, milestones, corporate occasions and other meaningful moments.
The recipient becomes the Steward of the designated tree or grove and receives the applicable Ownership – Stewardship benefits, including their personalised Ownership Certificate and other Programme inclusions.
An existing Steward may also request to transfer their Ownership – Stewardship Rights to a family member or nominated successor in accordance with the Programme Terms.
Can I transfer my olive tree stewardship to someone else?
Yes. Your Olea Legacy stewardship may be transferred to another person, including a family member or nominated successor, by written notification to Olea Legacy. The transferee must accept the applicable Programme Terms and assume responsibility for future annual Stewardship Fees. Olea Legacy approval is required for administrative purposes and is not intended to be unreasonably withheld or delayed.
Can my family continue the stewardship of my tree?
Yes. Olea Legacy is designed around continuity. Subject to the terms of the Programme, your stewardship may continue across generations through renewal and transfer to a nominated family member or successor. The underlying land and tree remain with the respective landowner; what continues is your family’s contractual stewardship relationship with the designated tree or grove.
Do you offer custom or corporate orders?
We offer branded gifting, custom labels, and bulk olive oil for Michelin restaurants, boutique hotels, and corporate partners. Contact our partners@olealegacy.com team for a quote.
How does Olea Legacy support the environment?
Olea Legacy approaches olive tree ownership as a form of long-term olive tree stewardship.
The agricultural practices used for each Programme depend on the relevant grove, landowner and local growing conditions. Where specific environmental or regenerative practices form part of a Programme, we aim to document those practices and communicate them accurately rather than make blanket claims across every grove.
Our broader objective is to support the continued care of productive olive landscapes, preserve agricultural heritage and encourage responsible long-term stewardship of the groves with which we work.
Do you support local communities?
Yes. Olea Legacy works with Greek landowners, growers, agricultural professionals, artisans and other local specialists involved in the care, harvest and presentation of the olive groves and their products.
Our aim is to keep the relationship between the Steward and the landscape tangible while supporting the people and agricultural traditions that make that relationship possible.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, PayPal, and bank transfers through secure links, and we offer custom invoicing for large gifts or corporate orders.
Are purchases refundable?
Cancellation and refund rights depend on the Programme and the circumstances of the purchase.
Where applicable law provides a statutory cancellation right, Olea Legacy respects that right. Where services begin during an applicable cancellation period at the customer’s express request, applicable law may affect the amount refundable or the continuing right to cancel.
Outside statutory cancellation rights, refunds are governed by the applicable Programme Terms and Programme Enrolment Confirmation.
Ownership – Stewardship Rights may also be transferred to another person, including a family member or nominated successor, in accordance with the Programme Terms.
